About Us
The Chin Community began arriving in Indianapolis in the early 2000s, fleeing military dictatorship in Burma (Myanmar). Adjusting to a new environment brought significant challenges, prompting community members to support one another in meeting basic social and human needs. In response, the Chin Community of Indiana (CCI) was established by the local Chin churches on July 20, 2002, to help our community navigate resettlement and integrate into local society.
Since then, our population has grown to over 35,000 as of 2023. After nearly two decades of dedicated service within the Chin community, CCI expanded its support in 2020 to include neighbors and other immigrant and refugee communities across Indianapolis.
Employment Services
As one of the highly to assist individuals and families in achieving self-sufficiency by providing support and resources to help them secure and maintain stable employment that provides a reliable source of income and benefits.
Programs
Health & Social Services
Currently, CCI hosts programs to help enrich the lives of our community members such as the Senior Gathering Program and ESL/Citizenship classes.
The Health & Social Services department assists families and individuals in improving their quality of life through provision of access to health care, social services, advocacy and by fostering connections to providers of health care and social services.
